Objective

The School of Mineral Resources Engineering of the Technical University of Crete (TUC) offers a Postgraduate Program in “Petroleum Engineering” according to the 4009/2011, 4076/2012, 4115/2013 and 4485/2017 Laws of Greek Republic. Our objective is to provide students with a scientific background and extensive applied knowledge in oil and natural gas exploration and production.

General Terms

The postgraduate course leads to a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Petroleum Engineering. The lectures are given in English and the course duration is one year. A maximum of 20 students will be admitted into the program annually.

Administration

The MSc in Petroleum Engineering course is offered and supported by the School of Mineral Resources Engineering.

The Steering Committee of the program is responsible for the coordination and the supervision of the academic work. The Committee’s decisions are taken by majority. The Program Director is a Faculty member of the School of Mineral Resources Engineering. The Director undertakes the overall responsibility for the operation of the postgraduate course.

Admissions

Applications for admittance to the MSc program will be accepted once a year, following an announcement by the School. Applicants must hold a higher education degree in Engineering or in Science. Read more...

Program specifications

The Steering Committee publishes annually the syllabus. The students to successfully fulfill their obligations need to attend the classes, to perform the work and to score at least 50/100 in their written exams in the following modules:

Once the students have been successful in their exams they need to work on their MSc thesis. The thesis corresponds to 10 ECTs. The subject and the supervisor for each thesis are approved by the Steering Committee.

Budget

The Postgraduate program cost per year will be covered by a) the fees 4000€, b) the Ministry’s of Education grant for postgraduate studies, c) the Technical University of Crete and d) donations by  oil companies and other institutions.

Petroleum Engineering postgraduate program of the Technical University of Crete is a one-year, full-time program, designed to provide students with a scientific background in hydrocarbon exploration and skills in the practical aspects of petroleum engineering. The program begins in October, and leads to a Master of Science (MSc) degree. The program is run by the School of Mineral Resources Engineering.
