The School of Mineral Resources Engineering of the Technical University of Crete, Greece, offers a Postgraduate Program in Petroleum Engineering for the academic year a-2015.The Program leads to a Master’s of Science (MSc) degree in Petroleum Engineering. It is aiming to provide a scientific background and applied knowledge in oil and natural gas exploration and production.The program’s duration is 12 months. There will be two semesters with course work on a full-time basis,accounting for a total of 48 ECTs. Upon successfully completing their exams, the students will undertake a thesis, corresponding to 12 ECTs, which has to be completed in three (3) months.
There are three principal elements to the course:
- Laboratory exercises
- Computer exercises
These take place during a two-semester period (13 weeks each). Formal examinations are conducted after each semester. The students must attend ten (10) mandatory courses (listed below).
Individual research projects
After formal examinations of the second semester candidates will work on individual research type projects for a period of two months and they are examined both as a report and by an oral presentation.

Petroleum Engineering postgraduate program of the Technical University of Crete is a one-year, full-time program, designed to provide students with a scientific background in hydrocarbon exploration and skills in the practical aspects of petroleum engineering. The program begins in October, and leads to a Master of Science (MSc) degree. The program is run by the School of Mineral Resources Engineering.
